Synopsis

B434/1: Alistair Macdonald reporting on preparations for the first British expedition to the Chinese side of Everest since 1938: the March 1982 British Everest Expedition to the North East Ridge. The four member team includes Chris Bonington (Leader), Peter Boardman, Joe Tasker (all from the North West) and Dick Renshaw. Bonington is interviewed about there being no Sherpa support and Mallory and Irving's expedition in the 1920s (runs out of sync). 03m12s
