Synopsis |
Programme focusing on two related stories. Opens with "Take Two" title sequence and music. Part one focuses on a Liverpool University archaeology lecturer and Secretary of the Rescue Trust for British Archaeology (name?). There are shots of him at university and stills of artefacts, coins and stone carvings. He is seen teaching students and there are shots of a studio where people are drawing pottery and animal bones. There are aerial stills of crop marks, ancient settlements and excavation sites. An archaeological dig, Chester Ampitheatre, the City Walls, Fortress and Cathedral at Chester are shown. Part two focuses on the Merseyside County Council Planning Department and opens with aerial shots of Liverpool, the docks and the River Mersey. A map of Merseyside is seen and a female Planner speaks about the decline of the Port of Liverpool. There are shots of poor quality terraced housing and new, improved housing. We see the shopping precinct in Liverpool City Centre (St. Johns), Liverpool's underground train system, motorways, an aerial shot of Greasby, Wirral and a graph showing Merseyside's population from the 1950s to the 80s. |
