Synopsis

Gyles Brandreth visits Rochdale to find out about accents and dialects in 'the North'. Brandreth interviews accent and dialect specialist Stanley Ellis on Blackstone Edge and conducts voxpops with people in Rochdale town centre. He then visits an 'Edwin Waugh Society' meeting whose members are shown singing and speaking in a Lancashire dialect.
