Synopsis |
Actor Charles Lewson presents this light-hearted look at Knowsley Hall near Liverpool, where artist and poet Edward Lear worked in the 1800s. Lewson gives a brief history of Knowsley Hall and of Lear's difficult upbringing. Various pictures done by Lear of the Earl of Derby's collection of animals are seen and Lewson recites some of Lear's poems and limericks including 'The owl and the pussycat' in the grounds of Knowsley Hall. |
