These can also be purchased for use by special interest groups and societies, schools and reminiscence projects - signature of an authorisation letter is required for these uses.

An Edwardian outing in Cheshire, aviation history being made in 1910, and the popular traditions of theWhit Walk, the Wakes Week, and the Blackpool holiday. A section is devoted to the cotton industry of old Lancashire, with mill interiors and urban landscapes. Special highlights feature a royal visit, a twenties tea-dance, and dramatic scenes recording the courage of Manchester in the aftermath of the Christmas Blitz, 1940.

Shopping in Stockport market in 1910, Gracie Fields' visiting Rochdale, silk manufacture in Macclesfield, a C.W.S. Other highlights are peacetime celebrations in Altrincham, traditional clog-making and Lancashire League cricket in 1949.

Sir Stanley Matthews revealing the secret of his success, Queen Elizabeth II meeting Arthur Askey and Alma Cogan in Blackpool, trips along the Manchester Ship Canal before and after the two World Wars. Also featured are the construction of the 1911 locomotive Coronation, the redevelopment of Hulme, and scenes during Manchester's Coronation celebrations of 1953.

SHIP CANAL CENTENARY SOUVENIR

A compilation from the archives of the Manchester Ship Canal Company, produced in association with the North West Film Archive. This video provides a fascinatiing insight into the first one hundred years of the Manchester Ship Canal. Colour footage and black and white film from as early as 1912 shows the Canal at work. See the construction of the Queen Elizabeth II Dock at Eastham, and go behind the scenes of the Dock Office in 1967.

A compilation of rare archive footage wonderfully filmed by transport enthusiasts in the 1920s and 1930s. On video for the first time, over 50 minutes of road transport legends including a ride along the Douglas Head Marine Drive tramway, new SLT trolleybuses at Worsley, brand new Leyland Titan buses and rare glimpses, in colour, of 1930s Lytham and Blackpool trams.
