The subsequent offer of a maisonette in Wigan sparked off controversy. 29’’ RNW A846Y/6: Richard Duckenfield, snf, reported on a project instigated by the librarian of Liverpool University to make a collection of popular books which he hopes will give future generations a truer picture of what the mass of people read now than conventional literary collections. 4’15’’ STUDIO: Felicity Goodey,snf, talks to Peter Gelling, Chairman of the Manchester branch of the Conservation Association about the health hazards caused by lead pollution in the atmosphere from car exhausts, which is particularly high in our city centres.
