MANCHESTER VT: RNW A842X/2: (16mm film) Steve Ireland, snf, talking to Keith Dunn, from Merseyside, who was hoping to attempt his own water speed record on Lake Windermere today, and to mechanic John Gibbons. The weather was too bad for his R1 Hydroplane - but some attempts were made. Steve also spoke to Les Moore from Solihull and Andy Chesham from Coventry. Ward. Sepmag. 3’46’’
RNW A842X/3: David Davies, snf, reporting on the first day of the trial of five boys - aged between 16-19 - accused of the murder of 17-year-old David Evans, who was awaiting sentence for indecently assaulting a 7-year-old girl. The youths - all at Risley Remand Centre - held their own private trial and found Evans guilty, they sentenced him to death by hanging at midnight.

Our weekend event this week was held on the 0838 Manchester- Sheffield-York excursion - on locomotive Number 6115, Scots Guardsman. Members of the Dinting Railways Centre near Glossop have spent nine years restoring the steam locomotive - the engine owned by the Bill Family. Chief Engineer Stephen Allsop, Hubert Parrish - who carried out the lettering and lining - and Chairman Dr. Simon Bryant, talked about the project and the hard work wthat has gone into the restoration to full working order.
