Synopsis

Insert about the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, which is affiliated to the University of Liverpool. Reporter Frank Mellor visits the School and speaks to some medical students, in particular overseas students, about their studies. He interviews the Dean Professor Herbert Gilles about teaching and research at the School. Doctors are shown lecturing to students in a lecture theatre, students practice taking blood samples from themselves, two scientists are seen taking a venom sample from a rattlesnake and Dr H. Alistair Read speaks about research into anti-venoms. Dr Dion Bell is interviewed about treating ex-prisoners of war and Professor George Nelson speaks about a vaccine for malaria.
