Synopsis

B3/1: Presenter Harry Boardman visits the north coast of Wirral and recounts the history of 'wreckers', communities in the early 19th century who caused shipwrecks by displaying false lights on the coast and then plundered the cargo. There are shots of Leasowe lighthouse, Leasowe Castle, Bidston Moss, Bidston Hall, Saughall Massey mill, sailors' graves in a cemetery and sandunes and beaches on north Wirral. 09m50s
