Synopsis

Two inserts relating to the Cheshire cheese industry and the British bacon industry. Frank Mellor visits a Cheshire cheese farm in Mollington near Chester and speaks to owners Oulton and David Wade. Includes shots of the different stages of the cheese-making process: milk being churned, curd being pressed in barrels and cheese maturing in storerooms. Pigs at a production unit run by Preston Farmers at Heversham in South Cumbria are shown being intensively reared and Geoff Ford, Manager, is interviewed about the unit. Includes shots of pigs being poked at with electric prods whilst being piled onto trucks.
