Synopsis

Extract on the various forms of secondary education in the North West: direct grant schools, grammar schools, comprehensives and technical colleges. A reporter visits Bolton School for Girls and there are shots of Headmistress Margaret Higginson giving an assembly and girls in an English literature class. A music lesson at Manchester Grammar School for Boys is shown. Principal of Nelson and Colne College, David Moore, speaks about the value of vocational courses, there are shots of pupils serving in the College's training restaurant, the College's talking newspaper for the blind is seen being recorded and an art lesson is shown.
