Synopsis |
Short film focusing on Mrs Alice Woodfire, who lives with her husband and two teenage daughters on Platt Fold Road in Leigh. Mrs Woodfire speaks about balancing her shifts at Courtaulds with housework, which she says "is not a man's job". There are good shots of her working in the Courtaulds factory (in Skelmersdale), very good material of her doing domestic chores: brewing tea, dusting, hoovering, gardening and ironing, and shots of her husband cooking breakfast for their daughters. They both speak of the equality in their relationship and their happy marriage. Also includes general shots of pedestrians on a busy shopping street. |
