Synopsis |
BBC presenter Frank Mellor reports on the reorganisation of county boundaries in 1974. He reports from the Lake District on the creation of the new county of Cumbria and there are shots of Lake Windermere, aerial shots of the Cumbria coastline, Barrow Docks and a Lakeland farm. Paul Wilson, former Lord Lieutenant of Westmoreland, is interviewed about his regret at the disappearance of Westmoreland. Bill Rollinson, Lancaster University Lecturer, is interviewed about the links between Barrow and Manchester and Merseyside. An artist who specialises in the art of heraldry explains his designs for the new Coats of Arms for Salford and Fylde. Concludes with scenes of various civic dignitaries eating and dancing at a black tie function on New Years Eve. |
