Synopsis

Includes Homeground title sequence at head. Frank Mellor visits four of the North West's stately homes: Tatton Hall in Cheshire, Holker Hall in Cumbria, Samlesbury Hall near Preston and Worsley Old Hall in Salford. Commander Peter Neat (who maintains Tatton Park), Head Gardener Colin Pritchard and Housework Supervisor Nobby Clarke are interviewed and there are shots of members of the public walking in the grounds and inside the Hall. At Holker Hall, residents Hugh and Grania Cavendish are interviewed about living in a stately home and there are shots of a vintage car meeting in the grounds of the Hall. Trustee of Samlesbury Hall, Alan Drinkall, is interviewed about current restoration work there and the Hall's regular antique fair is shown. At Worsley Old Hall the nightly event is shown with actors in Tudor costume and guests feasting on a Jacobean banquet.
