Synopsis |
Five film extracts highlighting positive things for young people to do. Presenter Janice Long visits Ted Corran at his home on the Wirral and asks him about his 'Instant Muscle' scheme, which allows unemployed youngsters to do menial work such as gardening, painting and decorating for the community. Mike Sweeney is shown trying - and failing at - windsurfing and then trying street hockey (hockey on roller skates) and interviews coach Derek Cooper from Warrington about the sports beginnings. Sweeney visits the Delta Project - a police-run scheme which trains unemployed youngsters in motor mechanics. Officers Bob Blundell and Neville White are interviewed about what skills are taught and youths are shown working on a car in a workshop. Two talented young artists - John Kimpton and Michael Brown - talk about growing up in Moss Side and their love of art and several examples of their work are shown. |
