Synopsis

In the first item Liverpudlian photographer John Stoddart explains his work and we see him photographing fashion models in a studio and passers-by in Liverpool City Centre. He talks about his interest in portraiture and photo-journalism. Some of his photographs are shown, including ones of Phil Redmond and Mark McGann. The second item shows presenter Mike Sweeney meeting athletes at a sports hall in Manchester. He interviews hurdler Shirley Strong as she trains for the Olympics about the lack of facilities for athletes in the North of England and joins in for various exercises and a game of basketball.
