Synopsis

Various extracts from a Homefront programme on the Lancashire Regiments. Starting with the Great War, we see newspaper headlines and footage from the trenches; 'Kitchener's Army'; going over the top; and the battle of the Somme. There is footage of the Japanese capture of Singapore and crowds of prisoners. We then see the Queen's First Battalion of the Lancashire Regiment stationed in Cyprus, carrying out an anti-aircraft drill and at a ceremony commemorating Waterloo. There are shots of war graves in France. Narration is by Brian Redhead.
