Synopsis |
Part of a programme on one of the Woodhead railway tunnels that was renovated by the Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB) in the 1960s to carry the trans-Pennine electricity link below ground, rather than over the moors of the Peak District. Gerald Harrison (not seen) interviews Jim Ashurst from the CEGB about the risks to workers and how the cables have been laid. Includes shots of the Woodhead Tunnel, power cables being laid inside the tunnel, the surrounding moorland and St James' Parish Church in Woodhead. |
