Synopsis |
B12/1: The first part of this material shows Frank Mellor as he visits hill farmer Richard Capstick on his farm in Lunesdale. Capstick speaks about his work and the depressed prices in the meat industry. Includes shots of a sheep auction at Sedbergh, Capstick's wife feeding lambs by bottle and cattle and sheep in fields. The second part of the material follows a group on the 'glorious twelfth', the first day of the grouse-shooting season, in the Bowland fells, North Lancashire. The gamekeeper is interviewed about the 'sport'. Men are shown shooting grouse, dogs retrieve the birds and dead birds are piled up. 23m08s |
