Synopsis

Presenter Mike Sweeney visits a special activities week organised by Rochdale Careers Service aimed at teenagers who are on the dole. The teenagers are seen doing a variety of activities: archery, weight training, table tennis, basketball, canoeing, running, windsurfing and Sweeney joins in a canoeing session. He interviews organiser Vilman O'Shea, a canoeing instructor and some of the youngsters. A drop-in centre in Heywood run by Rochdale Youth and Community Service is then shown: Sweeney interviews a member of staff and we see teenagers using the gym there.
