Synopsis |
Several film inserts focusing on the comic side of life in Liverpool (includes canned laughter). Includes interviews with several Liverpudlian actors and comedians including Rupert Davies (1916-1976), Ted Ray (1905–1977) and Arthur Askey (1900-1982). Other Liverpudlians recount amusing stories and tell jokes, including bus driver Les Shannon, several taxi drivers, elderly women (shown in a sitting room in a terraced house in Bootle) and men, including ex-Everton player Dixie Dean in a pub, talking about football. Liverpool players are shown training and Liverpool Football Club manager Bill Shankly speaks of the loyalty and quick-wit of their fans. Includes shots of Liverpool fans on the terraces and lengthy aerial shots of Liverpool city centre, Docks and the River Mersey. |
