Synopsis

Lynda Lee revisits the town of Leigh in Lancashire, where she lived for the first sixteen years of her life. She speaks to Florence and Tommy Hodgson, who live in her old house and her old neighbours Mr and Mrs Hunt. Lee reminisces about the lack of crime, the street games she played and the passion she had for the theatre in her youth. Lee interviews a group of unemployed youths about having nothing to do and visits her old school Leigh Girls Grammar School (now called Leigh Central Junior School), where she speaks to pupils. The Headmaster of West Leigh High School speaks about the change from grammar to comprehensive school. There are vox pops with miners about improved conditions in the pits. Includes shots of collieries, houses on Moorlands Avenue where Lee lived and windsurfers and sailing boats on the marina at Pennington Flash Country Park.
