Synopsis |
B16/1: Presenter Frank Mellor visits Dent in the Yorkshire Dales and asks if village life in England still exists. Roland Sanderson of Sanderson's Dairy in Dentdale laments the loss of basic shops and the increase in holiday homes in Dent village. Female workers at a sewing factory that used to be Beeston village school in Cheshire are seen making ties. Children are shown on an educational visit at a Field Studies Centre in Beeston. Includes general views of Beeston Castle and the surrounding countryside. Anne Sanderson and her father are shown making candles using sand in Burwardsley village in Cheshire. A long-term local resident of Tatton Hall in Cheshire is interviewed about the village's loss of atmosphere yet new resident, Pat Norris, claims a community spirit remains.
