Synopsis

Programme showing Cheshire’s John Williams (whose motorcycling career spanned 1968 to 1978) attempting to win the Isle of Man TT motorcycle race in 1976. He is shown breaking the lap record on his second circuit and leading by five minutes after five laps but his 500 Suzuki ran out of petrol 400 metres from the finish line and he was forced to push the bike over the line for 6th place, collapsing with exhaustion. There are interviews with Williams before and after the race and footage of the pre-race build up including the Suzuki team checking Williams' bike, Williams' rival Mick Grant, spectators on the course, the race itself, Williams' disastrous finish, and the race winners on the rostrum. 14m15s
