Synopsis |
Seems to be an incomplete tx print. Programme follows Liverpool FC fans as they travel to Rome for the European Cup final in 1977 and join in the celebrations after winning the Cup. Liverpool fans are followed on the long train journey to Rome: some are interviewed about their support for the club and there are shots of them sleeping on luggage racks, taking a ferry from Folkestone across the Channel and passing by the Rhine in Switzerland. Meanwhile the team are shown travelling by luxury aeroplane and in Rome. There are interviews with Emlyn Hughes and Kevin Keegan about their hopes for the match and the team are seen travelling to the stadium by coach. Includes Liverpudlians watching the match in a pub and their reactions to goals. The jubilant team are shown after the 3-1 win: they sing in the showers and celebrate at a party. Tommy Smith and Keegan give their reactions to the performance. The team parade the Cup to ecstatic fans from an open-topped bus through the streets of Liverpool. Ends with shots of empty football terraces and the Liverpool skyline. |
