The Wain family are seen on holiday in Llandudno, on the cliff tops, on board the steamer the St Trillo and on the beach. Peter Wain is seen blowing bubbles through a pipe at home in Hyde in 1948 - a boy scout procession passes by the house in the background. Mr and Mrs Wain are seen in the Wye area of Kent, at a college and visiting a farm. The film ends with Mr Wain's niece, Rosemary, in the garden with her parents and grandmother in 1946.

The Potteries, Staffordshire - the entire process of making a tea-cup, from making the slip to decorating and glazing, is shown by way of explanation of the picturesque occupations claimed by Tom's family - his fiancee, Gladys, from London is visiting. She joins in their social life and is made welcome, but is still reluctant to commit herself because of the awful smokey bottle ovens. However, Tom's work place is shown which demonstrates that modern methods are cleaner - electric ovens etc. - and Gladys agrees to see the vicar and make plans. The vicar (of Etruria Church) talks to them about town planning, and though he can't get them a house, there are plenty of new ones being built - Tom and Gladys go to a new housing development to see for themselves.
