Footage of different boats on the River Dee is followed by views of a country lane and cottages. The motorboat 'United VII' is seen out at sea, as well as a ferry and a paddle steamer. Brief views of a carnival procession in Manchester precede scenes of people skating (and falling over) on the frozen River Dee at Chester. Further scenes of motorboats at sea [probably near Lytham], people outside a suburban house and boats on the Dee conclude.

A large group of people are seen on the beach at Rossall Point on 2 October 1929, looking at the wreck of the Belgian trawler, Commandant Bultinct. A man is seen playing with a large dog on a golf course, and a group of girls are seen chatting. Girls from Arnold High School - including the film maker's daughter Nina - are seen performing scenes from their school play, and there are views of a hockey match between the Old Girls and present pupils on 28 November 1928.
 
 
 
THE EMPEROR'S SAPPHIRE

Drama produced by the Stockport Amateur Cine Players Club. Millionaire jewel collector James Welholme buys the famous Emperor's Sapphire at auction. On hearing of this, a rival collector resolves to steal it from him, and sends one of his employees off to do it. The robbery is initially successful, but complications occur and Welholme's daughter is kidnapped by the thieves. The plot is foiled by a family friend, who has been following them. He gets the diamond back and the girl.

Four boys dressed as Native Americans are seen sat around a fire, and then playing tricks on people - knocking on doors and running away, putting make-up on a baby when the mother isn't looking. Scenes from Boys' Brigade camps - setting up tents, playing cricket, getting washed and on a visit to the beach. The boys are also seen marching along a coastal road and being inspected back at camp.

Scenes showing the Randall family at home, including people sitting in a living room smoking, a young boy in uniform followed by adults dressed for a tennis match coming out of a doorway and then playing a game of tennis on the garden lawn. Includes shots of family members posing for camera (though the window of the family home and outside in the garden). Continues with holiday scenes in Nevin showing family members swimming in the sea, sitting on the beach playing gramophone records and taking country walks.
