A group of wheelchair users and others are seen on the platform at Piccadilly Station in Manchester, preparing to leave for Lourdes by train. Some priests arrive and helpers carry the wheelchairs onto the train. Once the tea urns are also loaded, the train leaves the station with people leaning out of the windows and waving.

Instructional film aimed at student dentists demonstrating the production and fitting of two false crowns to the top front teeth of a male patient. The original teeth are prepared, impressions are taken and the crowns are cast and fitted.

Instructional film aimed at student dentists demonstrating an apical resection procedure. X-rays are taken and the tooth root is removed by cutting the upper lip away from the gum. The replacement peg is fitted in place, the lip is stitched up and the false tooth attached.
 
 
 
TEMPORARY CROWNS

Instructional film aimed at student dentists demonstrating the fitting of two different types of crown. Firstly a post crown is fitted - a post is inserted into the stump of the original tooth and the crown is secured to that. In the second example, a jacket crown is fitted around the remains of the original tooth, which has been reshaped to the correct size.
 
 
 
THE CAST POST PORCELAIN CROWN [ONE TOOTH]

Instructional film aimed at student dentists demonstrating the making and fitting of a cast post porcelain crown. A wax peg and crown are made in order to produce a mould for the gold peg. A jacket crown is then shaped and filled with wax, a bite is made in the wax and the resulting impression is moulded in plaster. A false tooth is made using the mould and then fitted into the patient's mouth.

Instructional film aimed at student dentists demonstrating the repair and replacement of two broken upper front teeth. The broken teeth are cut back and the roots drilled out. Two posts are then inserted and following the making of impressions and moulds, the new teeth are fitted to them.

Instructional film aimed at student dentists demonstrating a technique of making two upper front teeth in a laboratory by building up compounds on a previously fitted peg. The teeth are built up, heat treated and after casts and moulds have been taken, tested and adjusted prior to final fitting in the patient.

Film following the training of a dental assistant. A girl arrives at Manchester University's Turner Dental School, has an interview and is introduced to a group of students and staff. The group go on a tour of the dental hospital and are seen participating in theoretical and practical lessons. Two students are seen working with a dentist on a set of false teeth, as well as with model and real patients. The class graduate and our newly qualified dental assistant is seen heading off for her first job.

THE PLATINUM FOIL APRON

Instructional film for student dentists demonstrating the wrapping of a peg used to hold a false tooth in place with platinum foil. This is done so that when the false tooth is built up over the peg the two can still be separated.
 
 
 
VITAL PULPOTOMY

Instructional film aimed at student dentists demonstrating the drilling out and fitting of temporary fillings in the two front upper teeth of a young girl. The following week these are removed and replaced with permanent fillings.

Coverage from the early stages of the Rugby League Challenge Cup in 1966 in which St Helens beat Wigan 21 - 2. The game was played at Wembley Stadium in front of a crowd of 98,536 and commentary is by Eddie Waring. Footage captures some shots of the crowd and some good passages of play but does not include any tries or goals. A family holiday in Dumphries and Galloway, where they visit the town of Moffat and watch a Scottish bagpipe band while children put on a Highland dancing display. They feed Shetland ponies and visit a loch. Back at the Smith family home, Michael and Hazel have a wash while Mum styles her hair.
