THE LAST GIFT | |||
Date: 1930 Film Number: 6076
Drama production by the Stockport Amateur Cine Players Club. A butler comes home to find his master dead. The police are called and the butler tells them the story. Prior to his death, an old man entrusts his butler with a "last gift" for his idle son, to be given once he has spent all of his inheritance on gambling, women and drink. The money runs out, and the gift turns out to be a rope and a note urging his son to hang himself in shame. The son does as he's told, but as he steps off the stool, the ceiling gives way and several large bags of money fall out. However, as the son is celebrating his good fortune, another bag of money falls out of the hole - hitting him on the head and killing him.
