The Clothing Ceremony of a Sister of Mercy postulant filmed in the Chapel at The Convent, Burnley. After a shot of the candidate in her black habit kneeling and reading, the film cuts to a high angle shot of the clothing ceremony itself. It features the postulant in a bridal dress, the mother superior, altar boys and three clergymen, watched by several nuns holding candles. After giving up her bridal dress for a simple black habit, the newly-received novice is presented with her white veil. The film concludes with the novice cutting a cake in the community room to celebrate the occasion with her family and clergy.
