They then play on the slide and swings in the children's playground before drinking vodka and orange. Staff and pupils of Worsley Boothstown primary school go on a school trip to Chester and then on to Llangollen. At the hostel, the children have dinner, do the washing up then their homework. The next day they walk around the town centre, followed by a trip on a horse drawn boat ride along the canal. The group visit Blaenau Ffestiniog and travel on a steam train. The film ends with shots of the children in a hostel getting ready for bed.

A steam train, 'Harry', is transported by road on a flat bed lorry from Walkden NCB workshops to Bickershaw. In Whitehaven, people are seen taking steam train rides for fun.

Members of the Charnley family spend time in the garden together, playing on the swings and with hula hoops. Crowds of people can be seen at Blackburn fair, going on different rides and browsing the various stalls. The family go for a walk around the Ingleton waterfalls trail. On family holiday to Italy, they travel around Venice on a gondola. Back at home, the young boy hand-feeds his pet gerbil. On a family holiday they visit Germany and Vienna. Back at home, Mr. Charnley does the gardening. Margaret, her husband and their baby boy play on the grass with the baby's toys.

On the main street a brass band leads the way on Padihams' walking day followed by children carrying banners and baskets of flowers. On another day the parade is lead by a band of Scottish pipers followed by majorettes, cub scouts, rose queens and girl guides.
