Insects in the garden. We see a spider on its web waiting to catch an unsuspecting fly. The spider catches the fly, wraps it in spider's thread then eats it. Butterflies are seen collecting nectar from a buddleia shrub. There are close up shots of a bumble bee and a hover fly. The film closes with a close up shot of a swarm of bees on the side of a tree trunk.

The film opens with a brief shot of a forest and clearing. We see a fox cub scrambling over rocks. Rabbits gather dry grasses and baby rabbits nibble grass near the entrance to their burrow. We see a brown hare in a field and a family of hedgehogs snuffling around a fallen branch.

Steven can be seen holding a birthday card he received for his 10th birthday. Steven and his friends play in the back garden together. A younger boy and his mother stand on the front doorstep and blow bubbles. We see a close up of a Wombles birthday card for Richard's 4th birthday along with his birthday cake. In the garden, Richard does some painting. Dad has to be rescued from a collapsed deckchair. In the house, the children sit around the table and Richard blows out the candles on his cake. For their holidays, the family visit Abersoch. On the beach, the boys fly a Batman kite. Back in the family garden, Richard holds a sign that reads '5 now'. Richard and his friends play in a sandpit and on bicycles. This year Richard had a Dougal from The Magic Roundabout cake. The children play pass the parcel and swingball in the garden before going inside for food and cake.

There are more shots of the controls as the pilot flies the plane, and then the plane starts its descent. Samlesbury Hall scenes. The film opens with shots of ceramic statuettes and then we see renovation work being carried out. There are close up shots of the wooden joists and the bricklaying. There is also extensive material from around the world; a cruise ship departing from and arriving in Sydney harbour, scenes in Singapore and a holiday on the Rhine visiting Arnhem, Dusseldorf, Cologne and Strasbourg. Further UK footage includes a trip to Windsor Castle, horse riding in Cornwall and walking by the river in Bakewell. Begins with Martie a golden Labrador 'greeting' a black Labrador. Next we see the black Labrador with puppies, all black except one. Martie meets the pups. The rest of the film includes another dog gently placing a baby rabbit with own puppies, an blackbird on a windowsill and Martie showing an interest in an owl chick sitting in the hollow of a tree trunk. We see Martie with a gosling on the lawn and a blue tit in its nest. Finally Martie is seen eating from a dish and retrieving objects in the house including shoes and a newspaper for his master. Martie then 'watches' TV.

On the beach at Abersoch, Mark and Tim play fight and then onboard a sailing boat with dad.

A steam rally held at Burtonwood Airfield near Warrington on 13 July 1974 with various vehicles driving past the camera including traction engines, vintage cars, vans and buses. Brief shots of a carousel, musical organs, miniature railway and funfair rides. At the Runcorn Steam Day on 14 July 1974, we see steam traction engines, steam rollers, musical organs and children riding on a miniature railway. The film ends with a parade of vintage cars, buses and vans followed by a brass band and dancing majorettes on 11 June 1977.
