After visiting a friend in Ennerbach, Mr and Mrs Wells visit the source of the River Danube at Donaueschingen and follow it to Donauvert via Ulm. They then travel to the River Rhine, stopping at Nerdingen and Dinkelsbuhl before the end of the holiday.

Archive film of the overhead railway and of bomb-damage during the Second World War is followed by views of the exteriors and interiors of various historic buildings and landmarks in Liverpool. The film looks at new buildings and developments too, and how they can contribute to the city's prosperity and future heritage. The films ends with a panoramic view of the city's varied architecture.
