[ABEL STREET SCHOOL PRESENTATIONS AND SPEECHES]

Speeches and presentations at Abel Street School in Burnley, possibly to mark the retirement of the headteacher, Mr Moffit. Speeches are delivered in the school hall and boys present gifts and flowers to the guests of honour as pupils applaud. A roll of honour board is unveiled by one of the schoolchildren. The film ends with shots in a classroom where a smaller presentation is made in front of an invited audience, and a buffet is seen in the background. A comic interlude at camp, where scouts pull the shorts off one of their friends in a melee, followed by the fuming victim sewing them up. Scouts eating at tables, diving and swimming in an outdoor pool, being inspected at drill and hiking through bracken on a hillside. Scenes from a role-playing game, featuring opposing sides dressed as native American Indians, followed by scouts erecting a pulley block over a lake inlet and hauling each other across in turn. The girls are shown enjoying rides at a travelling funfair, before further party scenes back at the house, including family members posing for the camera. The Gribbons peruse a brochure about Australia and drink a toast before the film concludes with further family footage, some taken on Blackpool beach. We see a show watched by a lot of spectators where men do comical dives into a pool, and then splash each other from rowing boats. We see a group of people cycling down the road on fun cycles that seat a few people hired from Butlins, they pass the Filey Butlins Holiday Camp. There are scenes from a farmhouse where some women feed hens, and countryside scenes of a Pickfords lorry with a very heavy load driving along the country roads.
