The members are seen in the grounds of Monk Coniston, the guest house where they are staying, and also rambling at Tarn Hows. 3rd Barrow in Furness (Grammar School) Scout Troop trip to Scotland and some of the Scottish Islands. Shots from the journey are followed by scenes at Auchengillan campsite. They then continue north on to Balmacara where they set up their main camp though most of the rest of the trip is beset by very heavy rain - an attempt to visit the Falls of Glomach is beaten back by the weather and muddy scouts try to wash themselves afterwards. On clearer days the scouts go hillwalking, visit the Isle of Skye, dry out their camping gear and swim in the sea. Also scenes of pancake making, cooking and sandwich preparation. The film contrasts shots of the countryside with shots of the town, and this includes a man who takes a stroll, busy roads, sweeping leaves and litter, watching children play, and people shopping in a Safeway.
