Description

After shots of documents showing the various Preston guilds (weavers and butchers, for example), the film shows celebrations of (roughly) a thousand years of guilds in Preston. A procession moves through the town, including numerous floats from public and commercial organisations. They include breweries, textiles companies, trades unions, the army, brass bands and vintage cars. Participants include mounted policemen, bikini-clad women, the Michelin man and children, while the more unusual floats feature giant armchairs, ice-cream cones, dinosaurs and a huge Santa Claus.
