Description

The girls of Grange Park School, St Helens, on holiday at the Langdale Estate, Great Langdale. They walk over Lingmoor Fell to Little Langdale and Blea Tarn and by Loughrigg Tarn to the White Craggs rock garden, Clappersgate. They pick flowers on route to Sour Milk Ghyll where they paddle and climb to Easedale Tarn. A walk to Tarn Hows and Hawkshead is followed by scenes back at the Estate - sketching, making fancy dress costumes and showing them off. Some visit the artist John Citheroe at Skelwith Force to watch him painting and theach them to sketch. A boat trip from Ambleside to Bowness and a hike over the Kirkstone Pass via Ullswater to the Castlerigg Stone Circle near Keswick.
