Description

Film about water management in the North West. Presented by Stuart Hall the film deals with the collection of water, its supply, uses and the disposal of sewage. Reservoirs, treatment plants and laboratories, pipes and sewage works are all seen. North West Water employees are seen checking for leaks, maintaining pipes and testing water. Water uses in the bathroom and kitchen are seen and the historical development of a water supply is described. There is footage of leisure activities in and around rivers and reservoirs - fishermen, climbers, waterskiers and yachtsmen are featured. Pollution control and sewage disposal are explained, as are methods of preventing floods and minimising flood damage.
