Description

Scenes from the Bollington Silver Jubilee Carnival. The film opens with scenes of the Silver Jubilee decorations on Ovenhouse Lane. We then see a parade pass through the street led by the Bollington Majorettes and the Bollington Brass Band. We see lots of shots of the spectators and the filmmaker identifies people he knows in his voiceover. The Mayor and Mayoress and the Festival Queen pass by and we see floats, amongst them floats from the Girl Guides, the Macclesfield Band, the Bollington Art Group, G&V Clarkson Grocers and the White Nancy Mountain Rescue Team. The Macclesfield Riding Club bring up the rear. We see spectators with drinks outside the Spinners pub and outside the Dog and Partridge pub. The parade proceeds along Palmerston Street and down Adlington Road on to the carnival field at the local cricket ground. People mill around the carnival field, drinking and buying ice creams. We see a fancy dress pram race and a demonstration from the army cadets. At the end of the day we see the joustabout sets being dismantled. The film ends with royal footage filmed from the television.
