Description

A look at the history of Hatherlow Sunday School, from the origins of local non-conformism at Chadkirk Chapel to contemporary activities at the school. Opens with shots of Hatherlow church before outlining the history of the local non-conformist movement, using several still images. The role and election of a Rose Queen is explained, followed by a series of annual crowning ceremonies held at the school. Religious processions around Bredbury and Romiley, known as Scholars' Walks, are shown in detail before the film concludes with a review of contemporary activities: nativity plays, parties, school trips, pantomimes, rambles, youth club meetings and school classes.
