Description

The barracks were opened by the Queen and the Duke of Edingburgh on the 1st December 1994. After a brief history of the various barrack buildings in Manchester, we see stills of the new barracks being built, followed by the dress rehearsal to the Royal visit. On the day itself, last minute preparations take place and the cadets march onto the parade ground behind a military band. The Royal car arrives and after inspecting the troops the Queen gives a short speech and unveils the plaque. The Chaplain blesses the new building and there are stills of the Queen's tour of the barracks and signing the visitors' book. The Royal couple then depart in the Royal car under a police escort.
