A beauty contest to choose Burnley's festival queen for the Festival of Britain celebrations. Burnley's mayor, Mr Alderman Broderick, is one of the judges as entrants parade the floor of the indoor venue wearing evening dress. On the venue stage, the mayor presents the winner Joyce Riley with a trophy and flowers, and the victorious queen and her attendants pose for photographers. |
