Description

Scenes from Woolton Quarry, Merseyside - general views of the quarry, and workers are seen extracting blocks of stone using pneumatic drills and automatic saws. The stone is then lifted out of the quarry by cranes. Shots of stone masons working on the extracted blocks, shaping the stone precisely to the architect's designs (to be used later in the building of Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral). The process is documented in detail with the masons using both manual and automatic equipment, and the finished blocks are seen stacked up in the yard.
