Description

A professionally shot video of a Hindu wedding ceremony at the Britannia Hotel in Offerton. The opening credits inform us that we will see Hast Melap, followed by a drinks reception and then dinner with live music. We see the outside of the hotel, followed by shots of the tables set and ready for the guests. The guests arrive and congregate at the hotel. The groom arrives and is carried in by female family members. The guests sit at the tables with snacks and drinks while the ceremony takes place. The groom takes part in various rituals, and then the bride arrives, and also takes part in rituals for the bride. The wedding ceremony then takes place. The bride and groom are seated, and they are presented with gifts by various friends and family members. They pose for photos. The guests are seated formally to eat, and the newlyweds make their entrance. After they are seated speeches are made by the bride's best friend and the best man. The newlyweds cut the cake, they feed each other cake and drink from each others champagne glasses. There are toasts and then the first dance. The guests sit and eat while others dance enthusiastically to live music. Some of the guests give dancing performances. The film ends with some more rituals for the bride and groom, who are then filmed leaving the wedding venue, and being driven away.
