Description |
Auxiliary firefighters train with a fire engine at Owens Peck and Co Ltd timber yard, Bootle. They practise with ladders and hoses against a building, and at a canalside. A sign reads, "Exercise Spigot Sunday 25th July 1954." Firefighters use hoses, ladders, and put out a fire. They wash the fire engine and practise with its equipment. A team, some wearing lifejackets, prepare and transport a dinghy into the canal, before practising manouevres with machinery. Auxiliary teams from Birkenhead, Chester, Lancashire, Liverpool and Wallasey compete in various tasks on a parade ground. |
