Looks at the development of communication skills with profoundly deaf patients at the Department of Psychiatry for the Deaf at Whittingham Hospital near Preston. Gives assessments of various problems affecting individual patients, many of which have been caused by long-term misdiagnosis, and shows the kinds of treatment they receive at the hospital - including individual and group therapy. Includes footage of staff receiving sign language lessons and other training to aid their work with the patients. |
