Description

This short documentary features the takeaway restaurant This and That in Manchester city centre. The proprietor Ismail Mallu, who runs the Northern Quarter café with his son Mohsin, talks about his roots and introduction to cooking, the variety and diversity of food from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, and how British tastes in curry have evolved over the years. He also describes how This and That was established, becoming a highly popular venue with a wide and enthusiastic clientele, and there are shots of meals being prepared and served. Several customers talk about their love of the café and note how it has also provided help and support for the wider community, for example on the night of the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017.
