Description |
The children and teachers of Grange Park School, St Helens enjoy a holiday in the Langdale area of the Lake District. They walk to Little Langdale, have a picnic at Blea Tarn House, then continue, stopping for a paddle and another picnic. Another walk from Hawkshead to Tarn Hows and to Loughrigg Tarn. Scenes from the Rushbearing ceremony in Grasmere where woven displays of rushes and flowers are carried through the village, watched by crowds of people, many also carrying floral displays. Villagers gather around St Oswald's church and the Rushbearing procession continues led by clergy and choirboys and including a marching brass band. |
