Description

The carving of a ten-inch welsh broth spoon at the Welsh Folk Museum in Cardiff. A carver is pictured using his skill with a hand axe to shape the spoon from a block of sycamore wood. He is then shown hollowing out the bowl of the spoon with a knife, and using a wooden spokeshave to shape and smooth the handle. The carver is seen trimming the spoon and displaying the finished product to the camera.
