Description

Heavy haulage scenes, this film opens with black and white footage from the 1920s. We see a Vulcan locomotive being transported by road. The driver manoeuvres the lorry through narrow shopping streets and crowds gather to watch. This is followed by scenes from 'Operation Move' in the 1960s. Huge industrial parts are transported by road, accompanied by a police escort. As with the scenes from the 1920s, there are large crowds of onlookers following the slow progress of the vehicle. The heavy haulage vehicle and its entourage eventually arrive at ICI Rocksavage Works. The rest of the film consists of other scenes of heavy haulage, and scenes demonstrating how extremely large items are transported. There are also shots of Widnes Foundry.
